The Sculptural Chair series was born from a simple question: What does it mean to sit with presence?
For centuries, the chair has symbolized authority, reflection, and stillness. Kings had thrones, philosophers had stools, artists had work chairs. A seat has always been more than an object, it is a place of thought and power.
The Sovereign Seat reimagines this ancient idea for today. Each chair is sculpted as a personal throne, not for royalty, but for the individual. The form balances strength and calm, combining architectural structure with sculptural expression. Every piece is handcrafted in collaboration with local workshops, using techniques passed down through generations. Materials are shaped slowly and intentionally, allowing the chair to carry the mark of the human hand.
The result is not simply furniture. It is a seat of presence, a place to pause, reflect, and reclaim one's own sovereignty. Each piece is produced in a limited series, ensuring that every chair remains both functional and collectible.
The Monarch Chair begins with the material.
Crafted from reclaimed, nearly 200 year old "Otran" cedar wood salvaged from old buildings in central Beirut, the chair carries a history that cannot be replicated. Rare and increasingly difficult to find, this exceptional wood is at the heart of the piece.
Rather than concealing its age, the design allows the material to speak for itself, revealing its grain, imperfections, character, and the marks left by time. Every piece of wood carries its own history, making each Monarch Chair inherently unique.
The Monarch Chair is an exploration of preservation, transformation, and permanence, giving a material from the past a new life through a contemporary form.
Produced as a limited series of only six chairs, each piece is a chair, a sculpture, and a fragment of Beirut’s history.
